Two volumes of patient account ledgers. The first volume (389 p.) covers the period 1804 to 1817. The second volume (52 p.) covers the year 1818. Each entry includes patient name, date of service, type of service performed, fee, and payment information. Patient entries are entered under first date of service. An index to patient entries is located at the beginning of each volume.

John Syng Dorsey, surgeon, was born in Philadelphia on 23 Dec. 1783. He married Maria Ralston of Philadelphia on 30 Apr. 1807; they had one son and two daughters. Dorsey died of typhus on 12 Nov. 1818. As a child Dorsey received a classical education in Friends schools and studied medicine under his uncle, Dr. Philip Syng Physick.
